More Parent Letters

First I’d like to say a big thank you for your continued hard work and dedication on the Love and Learning program. Joshua is now 4 years old as of Dec. 15, 2001. Just a little bit of an update on his progress with your program. Of course as you already know, he has known his alphabet before he was two years old and was sight reading 50 words. Now he can sight read over 250 words, spell 75 words, something I added to his program along with the words your program has got him started on in spelling. I just decided to take it much further. We work on 5 new spelling words each week so the number continues to increase. Joshua can also read now as well. He reads the entire My Big Book from Love and Learning. I had him read the three stories out loud in front of his teacher as well as counting by 5’s and 10’s and he can read all the sentences in the back of the book. He can also answer the questions in the back of the book. She just couldn’t believe what she was seeing and hearing. Her mouth dropped open and she said "Sandi, you need to show Joshua off to the world." She said that her son had no disability and he didn’t start reading until he was 6. Joshua actually was reading at the age of 3. I wish I could show the whole world my beautiful son. I’ve also taught him all the names on our money from the $1.00 bill to the $100.00 bill. He learned that in just two days. You can mix them up and he can tell your correctly every time.

I accredit his wonderful memory to the Love and Learning program. He has a box of 100 picture flash cards and knows all of those as well. At first people thought he was just memorizing everything without comprehension. This was true in the beginning but now he comprehends as well. For instance in the Humpty Dumpty story, you can point to any word at random and he will tell you what it is. Also, when I told people he could spell, they looked at me like, sure he can. So of course I had to show him off again. I would just spell the word and Joshua would tell me what I spelled. Then their mouths dropped open again. I also do a lot of his spelling on his Magna Doodle Board with him as well as every morning in the bathtub. His bathtub is filled with words all over the place. I can ask him to find a word and he will find it and spell it. He has 30 words on his bath tub walls and to pick the right one and spell it shows he can both read and spell. Also he knows his phone number and the town he lives in and his mommy’s full name and of course his as well and he can spell his name. This is the best program that could have ever happened to my son and so many other children and adults with or without a disability. I am always talking about this program to Joshua’s teachers and to parents. Your video has been all around Joshua’s school. I just think more people need to know about this - even as early as when a child is born. There should be flyers handed out to each mom!

Although Joshua didn’t get started on your program until he was 17 months, I wish I had had it the day he was born. I just can’t say enough on his continued progress. All thanks go to Joe, Susan, Mom and of course Joshua for all his hard work and dedication. He is such a blessing - I love him. If any parent has doubts about this program, please have them call me. I know I can assure then with time, patience and consistency this program will work and cannot fail.

Sincerely, Sandi Blanchard
